As finals are approaching, so is Mother’s Day. It’s important to take time to recognize your mother for each thing she does for you, whether it’s miniscule or monumental. This article serves as a way to acknowledge your mother in the midst of your studying, so hit share and show your momma some much needed love!
1) Thank you for giving birth to me.
Seriously, would I be here without you? Thanks for going through all of that pain just to put me on this planet.
2) Thank you for buying me those Wonderballs when I didn’t need one.
Sure, I had a ton of cavities and was pretty chubby, but it made me smile in the moment and that’s what made it worth it to you.
3) Thank you for letting me dress myself.
Letting me dress myself taught me how to be my own person. (And I no longer had to face humility when I matched my sister)
4) Thank you for teaching me how to tie a ponytail.
We all know this was a huge struggle as a kid. This may not seem like a big deal, but really it meant it was up to me to be independent and style my hair now.
5) Thank you for the cuddles.
On my worst day at college there is one thing I want. That is, to cuddle with my mom and have her play with my hair just like when I was little and times were simpler.
6) Thank you for teaching me how to do makeup.
Even though you say I don’t need it and I rebelled against your advice and went through that terrible heavy eyeliner phase.
7) Thank you for staying home with me on my sick days.
You sped to school whenever the nurse called home to say I was sick. You were always there pinning my hair up while giving me cold washcloths on the back on my neck, not caring that you could get sick too.
8) Thank you for my sense of humor.
Sometimes I have to stop myself because I find humor in the things that you would and I begin to sound like you. (Is that a good thing?)
9) Thank you for your honest opinions.
Whether it be thoughts on an outfit, or friend advice. You don’t tell me what I want to hear, but what I need to hear.
10) Thank you for teaching me how to be strong.
Seeing you go through adulthood and the upsets that come with it has set me up to have a strong mindset as I go into adulthood as well. Holding up your guard and masking your feelings for the sake of your children’s feelings is the ultimate sign of strength and selflessness.
11) Thank you for nagging me.
Did I actually just say that? Your nagging has had a good effect, forcing me to clean my room and stop being a slob, so that I won’t have to be told to do it.
12) Thank you for those nights we would stay up baking and decorating cookies and cupcakes.
Sure, it might have been past my bedtime and that sugar would only keep me up, but we marveled at our masterpieces when we were done and would pick our favorite ones to save to eat at a special time.
13) And for those times you *tried* to cook dinner.
You came close to burning the house down many times, however there were some successes! Now I know that it’s okay to fail, it will just give us something to laugh about later. Ordering in a pizza is a better idea 90 percent of the time.
14) Thank you for those Sundays that we never left the house.
I could go for one of those relaxing days right about now. Those were the days that we shared the most laughs and got up to pace with the Kardashians.
15) Thank you for listening to me cry about stupid things.
From stubbing my toe, to downright sadness getting the best of me, you were always there to reassure me and tell me that things would be okay.
16) Thank you for being my role model.
Since I was little I’ve looked up to you. The way you do your makeup, your high heels, and the way that you can walk into a room and be friends with everyone in there. My life goal is to be half of the people person that you are.
17) Thank you for teaching me what love is.
Watching you be in love and love me has helped me see love in its purest form. Unconditional and all consuming, which will help me recognize when I find it too.
18) Thank you for always believing in me.
When I come to you about doubts you always assure me that there is a chance that my dreams could be a reality.
19) Thank you for being proud of me.
Crying at my graduation made me feel accomplished to know that not only this was a big day for myself, but also for you. Not a day goes by that I feel underappreciated by you.
And not a day should go by that you feel unappreciated by me. This is only scratching the surface of the infinite things I could say thank you for. You are a one of a kind lady and I couldn’t imagine a world without your bubbly smile. I love you and Happy Mother’s Day!
