As Thanksgiving is approaching, it is time to acknowledge and appreciate the things we often take for granted. Being caught up in our own problems makes us forget how good we actually have it, even if it may seem like we don’t have anything good at all. I have always loved this time of year because it is time to reflect upon our misfortunes, triumphs and give back to others. With this being said, here are five things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.
1. The ability to receive a substantial educationÂ
While being overwhelmed with school work, I often forget how much of a privilege the ability to attend college truly is. Now is the time to realize that I was given a privilege that many people are not given and appreciate every aspect of it, even when days are tough.
2. Food
Although for many of us, food is not something we ever need to worry about besides what meal will be served each day, that is not always the case for others. Now is the time to realize how lucky we truly are to have a surplus of food.
3. Supportive friends and family
Although we have our ups and downs, I truly do appreciate all of my friends and family who have supported me throughout my many phases of life. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to get together with loved ones and share some fun memories!
4. My home
I am also extremely thankful for having a roof over my head, especially in these cold winter months. And for that, IÂ cannot thank my parents enough for working hard and supporting the family.
5. My health
Despite the occasional cold and minor aches and pains, I am generally pretty healthy, which is something I am extremely thankful for. Health is a gift that we must never take for granted.
In this crazy world, we should all take the time to share the things we are thankful for this holiday season!
