Easy Holiday Drinks for 21+

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

It’s almost that time of year again. I know that there are many ways to keep yourself warm like warm blankets, sizzling fires and hot cocoa, but we always seem to forget something else that can provide a little bit of warmth. Yes, you guessed it, alcohol! In celebration, here are a few holiday drinks that you should start mixing up this weekend to get in the holiday spirit!

Your Classic Jingle Juice

⅓ Whipped vodka (or vanilla vodka)

⅓ sparkling rosé or pink champagne

⅓ cherry 7-Up (or ginger ale)

You can opt to garnish with some frozen cranberries to keep your drink cold or you can be super impressive and throw some cranberries and water in an ice tray and make some impeccable cranberry ice cubes that’ll wow all of your guests (or just yourself).

RumChata Eggnog Cocktail

(Here’s to the little bit of alcohol that can help make eggnog more tolerable!!)

2 parts RumChata

2 parts eggnog

1 part bourbon or whiskey

A lil bit of caramel liqueur if you’re feeling a little extra

You can garnish with some whipped cream and a crushed up candy cane to make that eggnog taste a tad bit better!

Winter Sangria

1 bottle of sweet red wine (try not to take it to the face the second you get back home with it)

1 bottle of a fruity sparkling cider (apple, cranberry, pomegranate)

Ya did it! Just kidding. This one is all about the garnishes and the fruit that you put into the cup. Throw some apple slices in (granny smith works well), add some pomegranate seeds or a splash of pomegranate juice, and top it off with cranberries because why not? Also, if you’re feeling extra baller, cut up a clementine and put that in there too (don’t forget to throw in a branch from your Christmas tree like that guy did).

Candy Cane Shooters

2 parts International Delight Peppermint Chocolate Truffle

2 parts half and half

1 part white chocolate liqueur

We’re beginning to see a trend here. All holiday drinks go ham with the garnishes. For these little guys, you can opt to put some marshmallow fluff around the rim, and cover it with some crushed candy canes. Bottoms up!

Vodka Eggnog Cocktail

1 part Amaretto

1 part vodka

2 parts eggnog

Here’s another eggnog cocktail recipe that still requires very little effort. You can garnish this one with a little bit of cinnamon or nutmeg to taste. Also, you can opt for a nice caramel glaze over the rim of the glass and a cinnamon stick, which ensures that it will look like you really knew what you were doing while making this drink, impressing all the guests that you have.

Peppermint Hot Cocoa

1 shot of peppermint schnapps

½ shot of Creme de Cocoa

Hot chocolate!

Why not add a little bit of alcohol for extra warmth!

Peppermint Chocolate Martini

1 cup of chocolate milk (can substitute with almond/soy milk)

1 shot chocolate liqueur

½ shot of peppermint liqueur

½ – 1 shot of chocolate vodka

Of course, you can opt to garnish this one with some crushed candy canes!

Cranberry Beergaritas

1 part cranberry juice concentrate

1 part lemon-lime soda (Sprite, Mist Twst)

1 part beer

1 part tequila

Splash of lime juice

Beer before liquor, never sicker. Liquor before beer, you’re in the clear, right? Nah, just mix them together, you’ll be fine. Top off this dangerous holiday drink with some cranberries, of course, and if you’re looking to be extra special, add that slice of lime.
