When you go away for college, being away from your family can be hard, especially when you are a freshman. At the beginning of the fall semester, I began classes at Siena College, while living away from my family. Separation was hard, especially from the love of my life: my dog. My dog is the nicest gluten-free Goldendoodle you will ever meet. His name is Doodle (yes, I know, very original). I would FaceTime my dog at least once a week to see how he was doing. My dad kept telling me that although he does not understand technology, nor could see me on FaceTime, he would always get excited and wag his tail when he heard my voice. This reduced the separation anxiety for us both.
Coming home for Christmas break, I was very excited to see Doodle. By the time Christmas came around, I was already thinking of how I was going to get through the next semester without Doodle. However, on Christmas morning, my worries disappeared. Santa had gotten the family a Furbo. Furbo is a treat-tossing dog camera that lets obsessive dog owners, like me, stay in touch with their dogs.
There is, in fact, an app that goes along with the Furbo. This app is where you can press a button to talk to your dog, send him a treat and even take pictures of him.
If you watch your dog religiously, sometimes you can even catch him yawning or shaking.
On occasion, my dog will even lick the hole where the treats come out.Â
If you own a dog, you probably are in love with this app already. I highly recommend it, even if you are not a college student. To learn more about Furbo, you can visit the Furbo website.
