How to Adopt Fall-Winter Fashion Trends into Your Everyday Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

Okay.  So we all see runway shows and we always, without fail, ask ourselves, “Who the heck would wear that?”.  Yes it may be one of the most beautiful pieces you have ever seen (cough cough Chanel Fall-Winter 2014/15 Haute Couture finale), but how would one even go about wearing it??  Well, we’ll just have to take inspiration from it, that’s all.  This is what I have learned to do with fashion.  No I can’t run around wearing outfits that cost more than my tuition, but I can take bits and pieces from designers’ shows and take inspiration from them and adopt it into everyday wear. So, I have compiled a list of recurring Fall/Winter fashion trends from fall runway shows that both me and you can adopt into everyday wear.

TEXTURES

VELVET

Alright now don’t even get me started on how much this makes me happy.  Crushed velvet brings happiness and warmth to my soul.  If you’re really feelin it (like me), throw on a cute crushed velvet dress, tights, and thigh-high velvet boots.  Don’t forget about topping it off with a nice cardi or jacket because it’s gonna be cold.

LIQUID METAL

Not gonna lie here, but  I’ve always been to scared to try the trend but hey, if you find a cute metallic slip dress and pair it with tights, booties, and a good ol’ choker, you’re going to look killer.

EMBROIDERED JACKETS AND PATCH PANTS

Looking for texture this fall?  I think I’ve got the answer.  Match an embroidered bomber jacket with some rad DIY patch pants and you’re good to go!

COLORS

Now for your go-to fall colors. Golden yellows and burnt oranges are always good fall colors that you can never go wrong with.  Mauvey pinks, however, are making a strong appearance this fall.  The muted tones look great in basically every piece of clothing and the shade complements almost every skin tone.

LETS PUT IT ALL TOGETHER

When in doubt, your classic leather jacket and ankle boots have your back. But if you’re feeling a little adventurous, it could be fun to dip into the exposed shearling trend which is making a comeback (and that’s up for you to decide if it’s a good thing or a bad thing).  Anyways, at the end of the day, you’re going to rock whatever you wear.  Just strut your stuff and wear your clothes like ya mean it.
