It’s the event that we’ve all been waiting for — Mr. Siena! Get to know the contestants before you see them strutting their stuffs on stage. Next up is Thom Schlinck, junior History major and Educational Studies and Spanish minors!
Her Campus Siena: What made you want to become involved with Mr. Siena?
Thom Schlinck: This is my second year, it was such an incredible experience last year and I’m so glad I get to do it again. Having the opportunity to bond and get (very) close with a bunch of other guys while raising money for a great cause and bringing the community together isn’t something you get every day, so this event is an awesome opportunity to do that.
HCS: Have you done any service trips? If so, where?
TS: Yes, for the past two years I’ve taken Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy trips to Nicaragua. I instantly fell in love with the country and its people and I was blessed enough to lead the trip this year. It really opened my eyes to the nature of true generosity, hospitality, and selflessness and made me want to make a greater effort to live out the Franciscan Values in my life.
HCS: Are you doing any service trips in the spring?
TS: TBD!
HCS: Let’s give the people some hints… what is your special talent that we might see at Mr. Siena?
TS: I’ve been involved with music for the majority of my life, and as soon as last year’s show ended I knew I wanted to do another performance, but on a grander scale.
HCS: What would you like to say to the people of Siena?
TS: I appreciate all of the support the Siena community gives this event year in and year out, you’ll love the show this year!
