Shed Your Midsection During Midterms Week: Part 2

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

With the spring semester’s hump week readily approaching, you may be finding yourself anxiously anticipating the clear blue seas of spring break while also drowning in a flustered ocean of essays and exams. This time of year, you can hardly find a moment to breathe let alone dedicate hours to accelerating your heart rate at the gym. However, hump week isn’t an excuse to develop your own fatty hump bloating from your torso and permit your core to grow weak, especially with spring break right around the corner. Here are some extremely simple, yet incredibly effective workouts you can do in the comfort of your dorm room as you study so you can sculpt a body that will turn heads as you turn textbook pages.

The Basic Routine:

While Studying Vocab…

–       For every term you get down pat, drop down to the ground and do 3 mountain climbers

–      For every word that doesn’t seem to stick, perform 3 ski jumps

While Memorizing Facts…

–       For every detail you remember, perform 5 tricep extensions with a textbook in both hands

–       For each one that you struggle with, pick up a textbook and perform 5 bicep curls while holding the book in both hands

While Solving Math or Any Other Kind of Problem…

–       For each one you solve correctly, perform 5 lunges while placing your back food on your chair (alternating legs every other problem)

–       For each solution that doesn’t add up, perform 5 single leg squats (alternating legs every other problem)

The Challenge:

       –   If you are highlighting a reading, perform a sit up for every highlight you make.

Once you feel like you’ve had enough reviewing for one day, try going for a walk or run around with a friend to feel completely refreshed and de-stressed. Good luck on your exams and enjoy your break!
