Spring break is coming our way soon and this is the time when most students begin planning where to go during that spring week. Students are getting ready to pack their things because typically spring break occurs in the month of March and early April. This break is a great opportunity for students to blow off steam and relax from high stress of midterms.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the top ten destinations for students to go for spring break are; Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Punta Cana, Bahamas, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Puerto Rico, Key West, Daytona and South Padre Island.

One of the big factors that plays into why these places draw so many students for spring break is the weather. Temperatures of 75 to 85 degrees is typical and whether it is the white-sandy beaches surrounding these tropical locations or the desert life of Sin City, each destination offers warm sun in a setting unique to each of them.

Another factor that students have to consider is cost. Regarding lower cost options, resorts in Mexico are well-known for having all-inclusive packages during and after spring break which can give students the most for their money. These all-inclusive packages include all you can eat and drink as well as admissions to up-scale restaurants within the hotel at no extra cost. Spring break destinations within the United States on the other hand, do not provide these types of all-inclusive accommodations which means that you would have to pay for extra for food and beverages on top of the airfare and lodging costs.

Spring break is a time of planning and careful decision making on where to go and what your budget will allow you to do. Any of these top ten destinations would provide the guest with many different options for activities such as service of a spa, or attending a beach concert, or even just enjoying the local scene by going to one of the many or bars or nightclubs that are typically within the area.

When it comes to party time and spring fun we think of Spring Break. Right? Well, careful research and planning is necessary to identify the best option for you depending on your financial situation. The earlier you start your planning the better because this can lead to better rates if you book your flight and lodging early. One of the other benefits of planning early is that it will give you time to hit the gym and get that beach body. So start planning with your closest group of friends and make spring break 2018 the most memorable one yet.                                                                                                         (Photo by Margaret Gutierrez)
