Here at St. Joe’s, when we need weekend plans, the go-to is spending a day in the city. What should we do in the city, though? This always seems to be the question that can’t be easily answered, especially if you’ve already been to the Magic Gardens and Penn’s Landing what seems like a hundred times. Not to mention, as college kids, we normally don’t really want to spend money. In all honesty, we end up going to the city for one purpose: to take cute, artsy, ~free~ pictures, of course! So, put on your cutest outfit, pick your basic pose, and get those Instagram captions ready because I’ve come up with a list of some of the prettiest spots in Philly to take Rinsta and #nofilter-worthy pictures!

Murals on South Street
Again, if you live near Philly, you’ve probably been to the Magic Gardens several times. For a similar aesthetic created by the same artist that created the Magic Gardens and without having to pay a dime, take a photo in front of one of the several murals that line South Street.
2. City Hall from Broad Street
The architecture of City Hall is just beautiful and the perfect backdrop for a classic Philly photo. Get the best picture and capture the beauty in its entirety by standing on Broad Street. Perhaps not the safest photo op, but do it for the Insta (with caution)!
3. Spruce Street Harbor Park
Take a pic lounging in a colorful hammock or walk down past the boardwalk for a photo with the harbor in the background at Philly’s closest thing to a beach! This is even better at night when the park is illuminated by colorful lights.
4. Cira Green
Head to University Park for some shots in the city’s first public rooftop garden located on top of a parking garage. Get the greenery in the background or stand at the edge (there’s glass to prevent you from falling, don’t worry) for a view of the city as your backdrop.
5. These Inspiring Words on South Street
These little inspirations contained in hearts on a South Street wall are too adorable not to pose with! Perfect for your #MondayMotivation posts.
6. Addison Street (Rittenhouse Square)
This is another one you have to visit at night. It has Christmas lights on the trees lining the streets all-year round!
7. Graffiti Pier
To give your photos a more urban, artistic flare, head to this 500-foot-long pier covered in colorful graffiti.
8. Love Letter Murals
Each of these 50 murals that can be viewed from the train platform of the Market-Frankford line in West Philadelphia contains a love message (including some corny and humorous ones). Perfect #couplegoals photo op for you and your sweetheart!
9. Top of the Art Museum Steps
Probably one of the most famous views of Philly! Don’t forget to run up the steps first and get a picture with the Rocky statue while you’re at it!
Happy Instagramming!
