We were lucky enough to be able to sit down with Ryan and discuss his time here at SJU, his plans for the future, and his advice for underclassmen.
Â
As a senior, what are you most excited about this year?
Enjoying the “lasts” and finding the “firsts.” I’ve already experienced some of my “lasts”: orientation, for example, but I’m so excited for so many new things that will be happening this year.
What are your favorite “hot spots” around campus?
I love studying in Merion Park right near Merion Gardens. It’s a quiet place that’s great for studying when it’s nice out. I also love studying in third floor Campion, or even just my dining room in my house on campus. As far as food, I am a big fan of Qdoba, and the food at Brew Pub in Manayunk.
What are you going to miss the most when you graduate?
The campus and the wonderful people here.
 Best advice to Freshmen/underclassmen?
Get involved and be yourself. Be the person you want to be, make your image, this is truly a fresh start. SJU is a “get involved” kind of school so it’s important to do that.
Possible career plans after graduation?
Be happy and make a difference, money is secondary. Also, when I went to a professional conference in Denver, I realized I could spare a couple years there or on the West Coast. Philly is my city, but it will always be here. I can always come home.
Any regrets?
Maybe not doing a summer abroad program. After going to Italy, I realized it was such a beautiful city and I wished I could’ve spent maybe two or three weeks there. But I would never do study abroad and I don’t regret that.
Â
What is your greatest memory from SJU?
The big basketball wins that I got to see like Temple, Nova, and Creighton. They were fun. Also, my freshman orientation. And then embracing that it’s “the end” of my time at SJU. One day I found myself in church, passing out information about Appalachia and it just hit me. But I was ok with it.
All in all we are impressed with Ryan’s leadership skills, and great personality. We are wishing him the best of luck in his journies after Hawk Hill.Â
