How to Set Yourself Up For The Best Halloween Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

Do you remember the excitement of Halloween as a kid? Breathing in the cool crisp air, crunching the fallen leaves with your shoes, and trick-or-treating all night? Sometimes we wish we could go back and relive the excitement as a child during the Halloween season. But, we can still feel the spirit of Halloween if we try hard enough!

Here are a few ways to set yourself up for the best Halloween season:

1. One of my favorite things to do is to make a balance between horror and family friendly things! The pumpkin patch is common, but a favorite for getting into the spirit! It  allows you to run through corn mazes, take a hayride to go pumpkin picking, and eat amazing apple cider donuts.

2. Nothing screams October like a good horror movie after a calm day of pumpkin picking. There are so many good horror movie options. Movies such as, Michael Myers and Scream, definitely complete the horror side of things.

3. Obviously you can’t forget the classic movies in October! Some may say they’re basic, but they’re the ones that give you that warm feeling inside! Hocus Pocus, Casper, and Halloweentown are classic no matter how old you are.

4. You can start your day off carving/painting the pumpkins that you’ve picked, set them around your house, and then head to a haunted house! If haunted houses aren’t your favorite, then maybe a haunted hayride will do. It requires no walking, which means you can sit and enjoy a show, well more of a scare, but it’s definitely exciting. And if these aren’t scary enough for you, then I definitely suggest a ghost tour.

5. Last but not least, to finish of your amazing Halloween adventures, have a Halloween party or attend one. The only way to truly embrace the season is to finish it off in a way of celebration. As one amazing month ends, a new hopeful one begins.

There are plenty of activities to do during this season, but I always find that the number one thing that makes it even better is doing it with people who make you smile!
