Inspirational Instagrams You Need to Follow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

Instragram has become another outlet in our plight for perfectionism, a moment to brag, and an opportunity to stalk strangers. We like it better than Facebook because let’s be honest, we just want the pictures. Scroll through, done. Swipe up, refresh, scroll through…it’s the ultimate time waster, distractor, and good old fashion stalk show. Besides the obvious college friends list to follow, there are a couple Instragram accounts to follow that may help your brain cells instead of kill them. If you’re a business or communications major, you’ve probably had a professor that has told you to use social media as a way to find people you want to be, and follow them. Well, you can take this list as a way to help inhance your goals, or just use this as more interesting people to follow:

1. @Ctilburymakeup Charlotte Tilbury has a lot of famous friends. She’s made this list because she aways keeps her posts original, and it’s always fun to see her work on celebrities. As a make-up artist she is working behind the scenes with A-List celebs. It is fun to scroll through her glamorous life. If you are interested in make-up or a life in the fast lane with fashion, she is a great stylist to check out.

2. @Yoga_girl: Rachel Barthen is a professional yogi. Her job literally, is to teach yoga all around the world. She lives permanently with her boyfriend in Aruba (yes ARUBA) and everyday, instragrams a pose. Recently she’s been doing a lot of video tutorials on certain poses. On a more personal level, she does a “Gratitude Monday” post where she tells followers something in her life she is thankful for. Not only will she inspire you with her amazing yoga abilities and obvious flexibility but also her happy spirit. She’s also BEAUTIFUL. Namaste.

3. @laurenconrad: Yes, this famous OC local is on our Insta radar. Since her six years of fame on MTV Lauren has certainly grown up. Her Instagram shots represent the life we hope to live after becoming a reality star, and then gently falling off the map. On Lauren’s Instagram you will assume that she lives in an Anthropologie store, and you will envy her life. Her home decor and fashion sense are both worth imitating. Plus, she just got engaged and her BF is smokin’. Worth the stalk for sure.

4. @Alifewortheating: For the foodistas, and the rest of us who just really like food, Adam Goldberg’s Insta makes our taste buds water.  His foodspiration began after a teenage summer trip to China and blossomed when he explored New York City during his days at Columbia University. His Insta shows his wanderings throughout the world to show off his meals and the many views in front of him. Yes, the picture above is real. If you’re considering traveling the world, or traveling somewhere, Goldberg will convince you to do it.

5. @SherylSandberg: Ironically the only information Sheryl gives on her Instagram page is her Facebook link. If you didn’t know, Sheryl Sandberg is the COO of Facebook and in general, an HBIC. (head “b” in charge) Yes that’s right ladies and gents, read Lean In if you don’t believe me. On Sandberg’s Instagram you will be inspired to join the corporate world. However, her main tag line is seen all over her page: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” Sandberg inspires her viewers in the simplest ways, every day.

Our very own SJU Insta-piration:

@Jvierephoto: Jack Viere is a Junior at SJU. He started nature photography three years ago. As a hiker, he finds himself outside a lot with easy access to a camera. His hometown is Charlottesville, Virigina and there he finds a lot of inspiration in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Although Jack just started his Instagram page a couple months ago, his account is full of beautiful photography. His photos are surely worth the follow. “Nature has the purest form of beauty which can be diffcult to capture, but rewarding if you do it right,” Jack told us. HC SJU is 100% sure Jack has it right.Â
