Campus Celebrity Article on Brian Lafferty

Each fall, countless of SJU students find themselves going down the rows of the activity fair signing up for any club or activity that sparks their interest. By springtime that same student has an inbox full of meetings and events yet selects only a certain few activities to get highly involved with. For rising junior, Brian Lafferty, a few activities just weren’t enough. Brian’s involvement currently stands at 17 activities.
Who is this man of many talents you ask? Here is a little background:
Hometown: Springfield, Delaware County PA
Nickname: Laff
Class: 2015
Major: Criminal Justice
Minor: Film
Signature look: White Oakley’s (which according to Facebook have been his signature accessory since 2010. A classic look for Laff.)

Brian takes the idea of leadership to the next level. Recently elected as Student Body Vice President, Brian has gained plenty of leadership skills through his roles as a Red Shirt, supervisor at O’Pake, student manager for the Men’s Basketball team, Freshman Road Trip retreat leader and Community Day site leader. And ladies, that’s just the beginning of it!
Brian finds his day filled with activities and although they keep him busy, he enjoys every moment of it. You will never walk by Brian without being embraced by his wonderful smile. These activities are what he loves about SJU and he continues to find new adventures. This upcoming semester Brian will start his new job as a Hawk Host as well as the head RA for LaFarge Hall.Â
In Brian’s spare time you can find him on the club roller hockey team, intramural volleyball, basketball and flag football or training for the Philadelphia Olympic Distance Triathlon. You can also find Brian on campus creating hilarious vines. Athletic and funny, what could be better?
Brian is a true Hawk; his favorite memory so far has taken place at the well-known Holy War 2011. Brian explained, “the last day of the fall semester of my freshmen year was the SJU – Villanova game at Hagan Arena for the first time. After my final exam in the morning I waited outside in the 30-degree weather for 7 hours to get second row seats to the game. We won by 30 points and I was on National TV holding up “The Hawk Will Never Die” sign.”
           Brian Lafferty is without question someone to look out for on campus. Through all of his involvement and pride on the SJU campus Brian is an inspiration to students everywhere. If you run into Brian on campus don’t be afraid to say hello, just look for the white Oakley’s!Â
