SoulCycle is now another word that pretty much everyone knows about. From celebrities to friends, all I hear is great things so I thought I would take a spin and try it out!
Just around the corner from Saint Joe’s, a new SoulCycle studio opened up this summer in Ardmore. With welcoming faces greeting you and white walls all around, I felt nervous, anxious, but mostly excited.
After signing up, we were all assigned bikes and given special shoes. As you walk in, music is blasting and traditional lights are replaced with candle lights. I loved the low light atmosphere, giving it a peaceful and judgment free vibe.
Our instructor Ryan was great. He was full of energy and motivating all throughout our 45 minute ride. If you are not used to riding a bike it may be difficult at first and uncomfortable, but as time went on it got easier. It’s not expected to be an expert the first ride.
The last half of our ride was weightlifting. With small weights on the back of our bike, we got to work all of our muscles to the beat of the music.
It’s true what people say, SoulCycle is an experience. It was a fun one to say the least. You feel great and accomplished after burning close to 800 calories and leave with a smile on your face with music stuck in your head.Â
Can’t wait to find my “soul” next time!
