Spring Essentials: 3 must have items for every collegiette gal

Things are finally starting to warm up here on Hawk Hill and it is time to do the same with fashion. Ladies, begin to turn in your chunky sweaters with boots and treat yourself to these three pieces you will be dying to heat up your wardrobe with.

 The Chambray: Just to be clear, a chambray is a jean shirt/cardigan/jacket. It can be oversized, fitted, or have a design- like polka dots. A chambray has a collar with buttons.  The chambray can be any wash of jean- light or dark! Pick whatever shade you like and work it!

I stole my mother’s vintage LL Bean Chambray over two years ago and thank my lucky stars every day for the piece. The Chambray can be paired with basically anything. Throw it on with a maxi, a colored pant, or your bikini. You can work a chambray for a relaxed look going to class, or dress it up with a cute top, black pant, and a heel for a girl’s night out look.

2.  The Cropped Black Pant

Tired of wearing your faded black jeans out in the city with your sleek pumps? Try a cotton rayon blend black pant to switch up your party outfit. 

It seems odd for the spring, but a classic black pant that hits around the ankle
is just what every collegiette girl needs for that perfect date night. Also, these were Audrey Hepburn’s favorites! Pair it with a bright item- like a bag, shirt, or shoes. The pant is sophisticated enough for the Ivy League, but pairing it with something colorful will add a pop of girly glamour. Only wear a black pant that is fitted and leaves room for a strappy heel. The cotton rayon blend pant will give you some stretch and is light for those warm nights that are approaching.

1. The Statement accessory

The warm weather is perfect for relaxed outfits, rightfully so. However, take your simplistic outfit to thecollegiette level with a statement accessory. This piece can be of you choice; a big colorful necklace, a pretty satchel, or a bright belt. Only do one statement at a time, putting multiple ones on together will make your outfit clash completely.
