It’s common for SJU students to decorate their dorm rooms as they would a regular bedroom, in order to feel at home. This week, we are featuring SJU women who made their hawk nest’s more than just a place to sleep.Â
Â
First we’re going to visit Suite 230 in Sourin!
Meet Sloane (left) from New Jersey and Lizzie (right) from Pennsylvania! Lizzie’s favorite part of her room is her chevron comforter – fun and comfy! Sloane decided to look at Pinterest for inspiration and painted a cute monogram. She also made picture canvases of iconic movies (because who doesn’t love Ferris Bueller’s Day off, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Say Anything?!).Â
Now let’s look at Jill (left) and Hannah’s (right) room! These two went to high school together in West Chester, PA. They were able to shop together and really made their room cohesive! Jill’s favorite part is her decorative pillows – a cute, yet affordable, find from TJ Maxx. Hannah loves her tapestry, something they found together at Urban Outfitters. Hannah made her self feel more at home with all of her Jellycats because it’s always important to have a touch of home!Â
Now we’re going to head over to Pennbrook 210 to see how these sophomores have decorated their first apartment.
Meet (from left to right) Ally, Morgan, Brooke, Emily, Erin F. and Erin C.! These six are from Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Hampshire, and New Jersey.
First, they were able to decorate with wall stickers. Here are a couple of them!
Like Jill and Hannah, Erin F. also chose to cover a wall with tapestry. Erin’s has a cute and artsy map on it!
Also, it’s very fun to decorate your room with sorority spirit. Brooke chose to have a squirrel next to a nut house painted in Alpha Gamma Delta’s colors of red, buff, and green! You can decorate your own room with your sorority’s letters or colors to make it personal.
All in all, these ladies are great examples of how to make a dorm room a home. The women mentioned that besides decoration, SJU provides a supportive community and environment. Also, the girls loved our service options, as well as other programs such as The Kinney Center. The girls of Pennbrook 210 put it simply when they used their initials to make this quote – “Friends became family.”Â
I hope you enjoyed the tour!
XO,
Marissa
