Late at Night: Compton’s
Open from 4 am to 3 am, Compton’s fulfills every one of your late night/early morning breakfast needs. I personally have been to Compton’s at 4 am, watching the Open sign go up as it turned from 3:59 to 4:00. Objectively, Compton’s is not the fanciest breakfast you will ever have, but it does the trick when your stomach is grumbling after Late Night has closed and you really just want a couple scrambled eggs and some buttery toast.
When you feel like treating yourself: Iron Roost
A fifteen minute drive away in Ballston Spa, Iron Roost is home to all things waffle. From the sweet “Double Blueberry Doozy” to the savory “Southwestern Fiesta” (on a waffle wedge!), there is truly a waffle for everyone. Every time someone else’s breakfast comes out of the kitchen you will point it out to your friends and wish you ordered that one instead. In the end though, you’ll realize that everything on the menu is amazing. You really cannot go wrong with waffles.
When You Need to Multitask: Uncommon Grounds
Uncommon Grounds is an automatic go-to for any Skidmore student. I think I had been to Uncommon at least three times before even being accepted to Skidmore, making a point to stop in for a muffin or hot mocha every time I happened through town. Uncommon is the perfect place to sit and write that paper you’ve been putting off, fill out job applications, or even just sit and read a book. The best part is, you can do all of that while enjoying one of their excellent egg sandwiches that will keep you full for hours to come.
When you have time to kill: Triangle Diner
The task of waiting in line for Triangle Diner on a Saturday or Sunday morning is not for the faint of heart. I would recommend eating a small pre-breakfast to tide you over until you get a table, or endure the hunger long enough to be able to finish one of Triangle’s enormous pancakes. Triangle is truly the place to be on a weekend in Saratoga. The long line is truly indicative of how good the food is, and it is absolutely worth the wait.
When You Sleep In: Country Corner Café
Country Corner Café is as adorable as it sounds. Right off Broadway, Country Corner Café offers classic American breakfast fare in a welcoming environment until 2 pm. When you accidentally sleep in until noon and really just want to get off campus, this homey café is the place to go. Serving omelettes, pancakes, waffles, or even fried oatmeal, Country
Corner Café will leave you feeling warm, full, and ready to enjoy a relaxing weekend.
