Now that it’s finally starting to get warm outside (fingers crossed it stays that way!) it’s time to start digging out your spring/summer wardrobe. As you uncover old shorts, tshirts, and sundresses, it’s pretty common to just want to get rid of last season’s clothes and buy all new summer gear. But don’t take the trash out just yet! We’ve scoured Pinterest, and found some super cute (and super easy) DIY ideas, all of which you can make out of old clothes! Instead of spending money on a new wardrobe, just take some time to reinvent the old one!

1. Funky shorts pockets.

Got an old pair of jorts that you’re getting bored with? Spice them up with some fun trims! You can use sequins like in the example, or cute ribbons and fabrics with different prints. Either way, this craft will take those denim shorts that you, and everyone else in the world had, and make them uniquely your own!

Supplies: A pair of shorts, scissors, fabric glue, ribbons/trims/fabrics that you want to decorate with

2. Easy-peasey bows

These hair bows are absolutely adorable, they pull together any outfit in a flash. But best of all, they’re totally simple to make! They don’t require a lot of fabric, so if you don’t feel like going out and buying a whole yard for this one small project, use an old dress, skirt, or top that you don’t want any more. A lot of the cute patterns on clothes will translate really well into hair accessories.

Supplies: Fabric, hair clips, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks

3. Cutout T-shirt

This is a great way to spice up that old t-shirt you’re bored with, and perfect for the coming summer heat (will it ever get here?!). It looks fancy, but is easy to do. Your friends will be super impressed, and you get to do minimal work!

Supplies: T-shirt, scissors, needle, thread, lace ribbon

4. Wrap headband

This headband is cute and functional. Similar to the hair bows, if you’re looking for fabric, try some old clothes that don’t fit, or that you no longer want. They’ll provide just the right amount!

Supplies: Fabric, scissors, needle, thread

5. Button bracelet

This bracelet is very summery, so it’s the perfect craft to start now! You can make a bunch, and stack them, or give them away as gifts. If you have old coats or button-down shirts that you’re done with, this is a great way to repurpose the buttons.

Supplies: Buttons, round leather or coated cord (1 mm in diameter)

Happy crafting!
