Her Campus: What is your favorite season to dress for?
Rachel Rest: My favorite season to dress for is fall. Most of my clothing is antithetical to summertime–I like to wear clothes that make me feel cozy.
HC: How has attending Skidmore influenced your personal style?
RR: I like the variety of styles I see around campus because I’m constantly inspired by people I see in passing. I sometimes see an outfit that catches my eye and end up emulating it later that week, even subconsciously. I especially like all the corny 90s and early 2000s clothing I see floating around campus right now. It makes me laugh, and I like when clothing has a sense of humor.
HC: What is your go-to fashion accessory?
RR: I don’t really accessorize. Do socks count as accessories? I like wearing fun printed socks.
HC: Who are your fashion icons?
RR: My fashion icons are probably grandmas and everyone from Helsinki. I can’t really relate to celebrity fashion, so I prefer street style.
HC: Where are your favorite places to shop?
RR: Most of my clothes are stolen from my mom. A lot of my clothes are from Forever 21, but I’ve been trying to be a more ethical consumer, so I’ve gotten most of my clothes from thrift stores and Etsy for the last couple years.
