Winter break means it’s time for some R&R. Instead of worrying about deadlines, obligations and papers, you can finally focus your energy on holiday outfits and New Years Eve plans. But after the holidays are over, it’s time to gear into spring semester. We’ve put together the perfect to-do list to make next semester a whole lot easier.
Order Your Textbooks
Those pre-term lines at the campus bookstore can be a pain especially when that textbook you need runs out of stock. Beat the lines—and maybe get in some early reading—by ordering your books within the first week or two of break.
Start Study Abroad Plans
If you’re thinking about studying abroad in the future, you know how much planning and prep work has to go into it. Instead of letting it become just another semester responsibility, use this time to explore your options, work out some details and get everything in order so you can charge into the spring term a few steps ahead.
Summer Plans—No, it’s not too early
We know that horrible time crunch that happens around February or March when you realize how little time there is to figure out summer plans. Start gathering your contacts, searching around and prepping your resume so you don’t end up in a frenzy down the road.
An Apple a Day…
There are so many annual doctors appointments to schedule, and leaving school to get your eyes checked or teeth cleaned is tedious. Instead, try to schedule all of those appointments now while you have the free time.
Work Out!
It’s easy for your exercise routine to lapse during winter with finals and the holidays. Try to get back to your routine by taking some yoga classes, hitting a gym or maybe even finding a nice place to run nearby. You’ll get back to Skidmore feeling better than ever. Plus, it just might renew your motivation to stay healthy at school!
Take advantage of your free time. We always recommend a few lazy days over break, but too much couch time may cripple you come late January. Stay productive after New Years with this easy winter break to-do list!
