October is my second favorite month of the year (besides my birth month of course) for two reasons : 1. Apple cider donut szn, and 2. Halloween
Especially during your four years of college, Halloween is not just a holiday, but an EVENT. If you don’t have a week’s worth of costumes you might as well stay home! (I’m kidding)
With the pressures of having the perfect costume comes the pressure for most females to wear somewhat provocative outfits. Peep any Halloween website and you’ll find things like “Sexy Genie” or sexy this, etc. I even found a “Women’s sexy goldfish” costume. I’m sorry wtf, where do we draw the line?
Essentially, Halloween is now a time that women are pressured into wearing revealing and at times oversexualized outfits. Now, I’m not saying that you can’t be a sexy goldfish for Halloween if it damn well pleases you. I’m saying that you should wear whatever you damn want for Halloween as long as you’re comfortable, not being offensive, and wearing something for your own benefit and not based off of society’s or anyone else’s expectations of you.
