Although I have lived in Vermont for my entire life, it wasn’t until last summer that I discovered one of the best ice cream places that I’ve ever been to! As the sign says, the Village Scoop serves hard and soft ice creams, sundaes, milkshakes and floats, tornadoes (which can be compared to a Dairy Queen blizzard, but better in my opinion), and lattes and mochas. For special occasions, they also take orders for ice cream cakes and cupcakes (as seen below).
Most of their hard ice cream flavors are sourced from Gifford’s Ice Cream, so they give their business to a New England based company, as it is made in Maine. My personal favorite flavor is Muddy Boots (featured below) which is a vanilla ice cream base with caramel swirl and brownie bits. But there are so many other flavors and options to choose from!
It is a family owned business and their service is always amazing! Their “scoopers” (aka staff) are always so welcoming and friendly which is just the cherry on top. You also never have to worry about not having enough ice cream — the portions are very generous in my opinion. Another unique feature of the Village Scoop is that they have a drive-thru window, so if you don’t feel like getting out of your car to get ice cream then that’s definitely the way to go!
No matter what your ice cream preference, the Village Scoop has something for everyone! There are so many options and different combinations to choose from. They have now been open since April 1st and will be open through the beginning of September. For the month of April, sundaes are $1 off, so now is definitely the time to try it out if you’ve never visited. I know that my summer will be filled with many visits to the Village Scoop with family and friends!
