Meet Katelyn Whitman! Katelyn is an one of a kind girl, managing to do so many things with grace and efficiency. Known for her trademark sassyness and snort around campus, she has recently became VP of the Drama Club. Though she is not one to start drama, Katelyn is someone anyone is lucky to know on campus!

1) What are you involved with on campus?
I am involved with VITA (Team Leader for Dessert and the Divine), LEAP Retreat, Vice President of the Drama Club, and a Tour Guide and Blogger for the Founders Society.
Â
2) Why did you decide to get involved with Theater and Drama Club?
I joined my first year here at Saint Mike’s because I missed having theatre in my life – I was very involved in high school and I wanted to maintain that relationship in my life. I took it to the next level and became a theatre major! I’ve had so many opportunities to explore my interests and get to know some really awesome people along the way.
Â
3) What is your advice for those looking to get involved, but don’t know where to start?
If you know of someone who’s involved in something you’re interested in, chances are that they’ll love to chat about it and help you do what you want to do. Go to a meeting for a club, meet new people, put yourself out there. I know it’s really cheesy but if you’re passionate about something, you’ll find other people who are passionate about it too and creative some great friendships.
Â
4) What qualities describe your leadership style?
To me, my leadership style is one that tries to make everyone happy. It’s a hard task, but I try to provide opportunities for anyone who shows interest in a certain topic. I try to be respectful, very efficient, and organized which is really beneficial when you’re working with a team. If you bring your best to the team, chances are you will work well together.
Â
5) What are your tips to time management?
DON’T SIGN UP FOR EVERYTHING. I’m a good example of trying to do it all with all my extra-curricular activities on top of a double major and triple minor. Keeping all of your priorities in tact is crucial. Spending time with your friends is also good for your mental state – just in an arena that works for you. That 5 page paper you need to do for tomorrow? It should take precedence over a movie marathon with your friends. A study session in the library is a great way to hang out, do work, and take breaks to talk about your workload.
Â
6) What lasting impression do you hope to leave to SMC?
Thinking about graduation in a few short months is crazy. My lasting impression that I hope to leave behind is that I am someone that can provide a hint of comedy and efficiency when one needs it the most.
