“Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”

-Leslie Knope, Parks & Recreation

When it comes to holidays, Valentine’s Day is a personal favorite of mine because it’s all about celebrating love. And I’m not just talking about love for your significant other. Regardless of what your relationship status is, there’s nothing like the love you have for your besties, so why not have a Galentine’s Day celebration? Here are some ideas for how you can celebrate around Dallas.

1. Kick it, breakfast style

Leslie Knope would approve! And who doesn’t love breakfast food? Luckily, Dallas is full of restaurants that would make a perfect brunch spot for you and your squad. Some of my personal favorites are Sixty Vines, Vidorra, and Sundown at Granada.

2. Have a gift exchange

There’s a reason why “receiving gifts” is considered one of the five love languages. “I saw this and thought of you” is probably one of my favorite sentences to hear. A gift is also a great way to share those little things that you’re obsessed with and introduce them to your friends. Think of things like the bomb lip gloss you just discovered at Sephora, your favorite pair of chenille socks, and that lariat necklace that you always get compliments on. Set a budget, get a group together, take a trip to North Park, and exchange your gifts!

3. Take a class together

Learning new things is always fun, and having your closest friends with you makes it even more fun. And when it comes to fun classes around Dallas, the options are endless. Up your fitness game and do a trial class at Orangetheory, learn how to cook fancy desserts at Sur la Table, or make your own candles at The Candle Bar.

4. Ice skating at the Galleria

Seeing ice in Texas is like someone actually reading the terms and conditions of something- it’s never going to happen. Thankfully we have an ice rink at the Galleria so we can still enjoy ice skating! It’s also located right in the middle of an enormous shopping center so you can indulge in a retail therapy session afterwards. Grab your closest friends and a mug of hot cocoa and show off your moves (or lack thereof).

5. Have a spa day

There’s nothing like a day of relaxation and getting beautified! Hit up the nail salon (formals are coming up, so Valentine’s day would be the perfect time to get a mani-pedi), treat yourselves to hydrafacials at your favorite spa, and finish off your day of pampering with shampoo/blowout appointments at Drybar. And since you’ll be looking and feeling amazing, this would also be a great opportunity for a spontaneous (or not so spontaneous) photoshoot with your girlfriends.

No relationship? No problem. Gather your closest gal-pals and have yourself an awesome Galentine’s Day.
