How Game of Thrones Can Prepare You for College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

If you’re at all like me, this Sunday left a void in your soul. Something fundamental was missing from your routine. Something had been taken from your life that left you with about 45 minutes to an hour of emptiness. What was it? This Sunday had no new Game of Thrones.

For several weeks everyone’s lives were consumed with dragons and White Walkers. But now, life must be consumed by classes and essays and tests — and the show we know and love may not debut the next season until 2019! Which… is way too long for me. I need Daenerys kicking ass to fill my life. Thankfully, as we settle into our school routines, we can turn to our favorite show to teach us how to survive this college adventure.

1. Despite what you may think, you probably have no idea what’s going on (and that’s okay!)

2. There are going to be plenty of assignments and classes that you really could not care any less about

3. Someone, somewhere, will always have alcohol for you if you need it

4. And someone always has the gossip

5. The guy everyone is fighting over? Probably not worth it. (Unless he actually is Jon Snow, in which case, carry on)

6. Always know your drinking limits

7. Don’t get too attached to someone who is probably a f*ckboy

8. Some professors, no matter how hard you try, will always make life difficult for you

9. Eventually, all of the annoying and awful people will eventually get what’s coming to them

10. When everything is awful and you feel like dying, remember…

May both the school year and the wait until next season go quickly!
