Mr. University: Cody Noyola

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

All hail Mr. University! On Thursday, November 10 the women of Pi Beta Phi held an all male beauty pageant. After hysterical dance performances, suave modeling and an excruciating question and answer section only one man could be victorious. SMU Sophomore Cody Noyola was the one, he was officially crowned Mr. University 2011. Despite his sudden claim to fame I had the chance to talk with Cody about his title.

1. How were you chosen to participate in Mr. University?
I heard about the competition through the sorority grapevine pretty much. Our President asked if anyone wanted to to do it. The guys at the house nominated me probably because of my luck of winning pie eating contest this year, but that was that, and I was signed up to represent Phi Delta Theta.

2. What talent did you showcase in the pageant?
I brought back John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever solo dance. I performed this dance last year at Studio 54. I really only learned much of the easy moves and tried to wing the last minute. I couldn’t wait for the song to be over.

3. What’s your favorite memory from Mr. University?
My favorite memory would probably be doing the dance to “I’m Sexy and I Know it”. It really reflected on the unity of the greek life on campus. I also met a lot of other pretty cool people who I know I probably would have never met.

4. How does it feel to be crowned Mr. University?
To be honest, It’s been pretty crazy. But I’m ready for it to go back to normal. Everyone on this campus is a Mr. and Mrs. University.

5. Do you plan on making a special appearance in next years pageant?
I’m sure I’ll find a way to surprise y’all.
