Make yourself an SMU Bucket list this semester so you can be S-M-lit for the rest of the year! College is some of the best years of your life, and if you don’t take a second to take advantage of absolutely everything around you, then these four years will pass you by in a blink of an eye. That’s what a bucket list is for, to remind you of the various things you should do before walking that stage. Here is my bucket list for SMU to give you just a tad bit of an idea of what could be on yours.
1. Hop in all twelve fountains
Yeah this is a cheesy tradition, BUT IT’S A TRADITION! If you don’t hop into all twelve of the fountains on campus, then did you even go here?
2. Ride the pony statue
Friendly word of advice, if you do it at night you don’t run the risk of burning your butt off!
3. Kiss someone in between the shelves of Fondren Library
Let’s face it, this would be kind of cute, and if it turns into a makeout then more power to you. Anything else I am not condoning (@ all the freaky freaks out there).Â
4. Pet Peruna/get a picture with him
Peruna is deadly, but so darn cute so pet him, and take a selfie with him while you’re at it. Fun Fact: Peruna has all the keys to success so love him.
5. Climb the rock wall inside the gym and try to ring the bell at the top
Prove to yourself and all your peers that you have the upper body strength to climb that wall like a bad ass, but just remember once you get up there you’ve got to get back down.
6. See/meet President Bush on campus
Take a picture with him and put it all over your Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, etc. I would swipe right if you knew a former president.
7. Sneak in a selfie with president R. Gerald Turner
Bonus points if you get him to pony up with you.
8. Have a photo shoot on the most beautiful campus in the nation
This is a fact! Brag about our school, here’s an article by The Huffington Post to prove that we do have the most beautiful campus in the country
9. Have a picnic on Dallas Hall Lawn.
Chill on a hammock or sit on Dallas lawn with some friends while you watch all the frenzied people run from class to class. Scope out the cuties while you catch up on some sun? Umm, hell yes.
10. Visit a Meadows performance
With a dance department ranked six out of the 10 Best Colleges for Dance Performance in the U.S., a theatre department that taught Kathy Bates (AHS fans what’s up), and a whole entire school full of the finest arts students, why wouldn’t you want to see one of their performances? Hello, support your peers! They’re talented AF.
Well there you have it, 10 things I want to do at SMU before I graduate. Make your own list and send it in to us! Give me some more ideas to add to my list, because I’ll probably try to do all of these by the end of this year. Oops!
