Eleven years ago, one of the best movies of the century came out: The Devil Wears Prada. It was an incredible moment in film, focusing on fashion, career minded women and what it’s like to navigate a high-powered workplace. Eleven years later, it is still one of my favorite movies. It’s the movie I watch when I am sick or sad, because it reminds me that I can handle anything. Some of the best moments in the film happen after Andy’s fashion transformation, which is why today we are going to look at our top eleven outfits from the Devil Wears Prada. Strap on your strappy stilettos and wing out your eyeliner, because here are some looks that never seemed to go out of style.
Look 11-Andy in All Green
All green, with one big waist belt, this outfit just barely makes our top list, and it’s partially because I am so obsessed with how good Andy looks in it. The dress is just barely elevated above frumpy, but somehow Andy makes it work. Extra points for this being her most frantic moment in the film, where she nearly quits, because I can’t imagine trying to look chic while simultaneously searching for an unpublished manuscript of Harry Potter.
Look 10- Andy’s transformation
Are those the Chanel boots? Yes, yes they are. Andy finally decides to really focus on getting ahead in her career, and to do that, she needs to stop wearing lumpy blue “stuff” and lock down her look. She’s so hot that Nate doesn’t even recognize her. I’d say that’s a success.
Look 9- Miranda’s Purple Dress
Purple is the color of royalty, and that’s exactly what Miranda looks like here. She’s divine from the necklace down to the shoes. I can’t even, ladies. Can’t even.
Look 8- Emily’s Gingham Dress
This look is overshadowed by Andy’s tranformation, but don’t worry Emily, I’m still obsessed with this gingham dress. With barely enough time for a full once over, we can still tell this outfit is high high fashion, from the gathered, low neckline to the three quarter sleeve. It’s every day wear elevated to incredible heights.
Look 7- Bedazzled Miranda
Despite this being the most ruthless Miranda is in almost the whole course of the film, she still looks magnificent. Somehow rocking this blazer that I don’t think any of us could pull off in a million years, she delivers one of the best monologues of this movie, all with that devil’s glare in her eyes that gives this movie its title. She’s incomprehensibly amazing.
Look 6- Motorcycle Chic
Early on in Andy’s transformation, she still put together some banging outfits. The long chains, the high boots, the all black, the James Holt bag and that coat really make an incredible statement. And that statement is that Anne Hathaway really looks amazing in black.
Look 5- All Plaid Nigel
As the creative director to the most stylish magazine in New York, it is no surprise that Nigel almost always looks amazing himself. All plaid wouldn’t look good on almost any other man, but here in the run through, Nigel is pulling it off.
Look 4- Ice Queen Miranda

This look is as if Elsa had grown up and got a job with a fashion magazine. I don’t know how Meryl Streep can pull off white hair and a white outfit, but she does, and I’m obsessed with it.
Look 4- Somehow Sexy School Girl
Andy has that sexy, high fashion, almost Catholic school uniform look that we all attempt to master, but never quite get. It’s straightlaced, but somehow sexy, with minimal jewelry and that just-relaxed-enough ponytail.
Look 3- Andy in THAT Coat

You know how they say no white after Labor Day? Well Andy doesn’t care. She’s out here in the full winter with this gorgeous white coat, that tilted pageboy cap and blue pumps. It’s so chic I could die, but I have to make it through the rest of the movie.
Look 2- Andy Quits in Style
For her last day in full fashion, Andy really pulls out the stops. Pretty impressive, considering this is basically a morning after look. All black, dainty jewelry and a full skirt? Sign me up please, I’m stealing this outfit. Everybody wants to be us.
Look 1- The Gala Trio
This look has to be our top because all three women look freaking incredible. All in black, very sleek, very chic, completely unbelievable. Andy shows her own i red lipstick, Miranda looks like a queen and Emily refuses to be sick- she’s wearing Valentino, for crying out loud. It’s the height of fashion in this film (other than the actual fashion shows, but shhhhh), where we see these high-powered women morph into haute couture butterflies. Who cares if Andy was late to Nate’s birthday dinner? She looks amazing.
