Emily Miller, affectionately dubbed “Miller” by friends, is the most motherly college student I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She brightens up Sonoma’s campus with her waist-long red hair, which is also buzzed on the sides (a recognizable look- say hi if you see her around!). She’s an incredible roommate, friend, coworker, and much much more.
Her Campus: Thanks for talking to us! Tell us about yourself- where are you from?
Emily Miller: Thanks Suz! I’m from a little town called Sacramento. You may not have heard of it…
HC: Oh wow! Me too! What’s your major?
EM: I’m a third year Biology major taking prerequisites for pre-vet!
HC: How cool! Animals are the best. What has been your favorite class at Sonoma and who’s been your favorite professor so far?
EM: I’m actually taking some really fun classes right now – the first fun classes for my major! Entomology, Vertebrate Biology, all the nerdy stuff. Andy Collinsworth has definitely been one of my favorite professors, he’s the Director of Bands for SSU and the ensembles I’ve been a part of have been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences thus far.
HC: What else are you involved in on campus?
EM: Well besides playing clarinet with the Concert Band, I have had three semesters as a research assistant in Dr. Girman’s lab working with California Tiger Salamanders! They’re wonderful and some of the most photogenic amphibians.
HC: OOH interesting! What are your plans for the future?
Emily: Well, I’ll be applying to vet school relatively soon, and if that doesn’t work out, I’ve always got my hand model career to fall back on. I’m also hoping to travel abroad to work with vets in impoverished areas to provide veterinary care within the next few summers!
HC: Thanks for chatting Em! Have a great semester!
