HC: What made you want to be an editor for HerCampus?
Well, I started off as a staff writer last year and absolutely fell in love with HerCampus, all the amazing women that are apart of it and what it stands for. I also aspire to be a journalist or editor so this is just the perfect path for me.
HC: Why did you start writing for HerCampus?
My peer mentor was a writer for HerCampus, she’s currently kicking ass in D.C right now as a Congressional Intern, and when I told her I loved writing and wanted to get involved somehow she told me about the organization and I immediately got hooked.
HC: What is your favorite thing to write about?
I love that I can write about anything I want, but I generally lean towards current events and news. I want to be a journalist focused on politics and foreign relations so I always stay in touch with whats going on in the world and think it’s really important that the readers of HerCampus do as well.
HC: What is your favorite article you’ve written and why?
Oh God umm, I would say the two articles I wrote on Standing Rock last year. Â I did a lot of research and followed up after the mainstream media stopped reporting on it and it got a lot of reads. I think that was the first time my articles got noticed on a large scale so it was really awesome to report on something so important.
HC: How do you think writing for HerCampus will help your career in the future?
Like I said, I want to be a Journalist and Editor of publications like Time Magazine or Rolling Stones, so HerCampus is great way to be practice writing and be published at the same time! I also just have a passion for writing in general so it’s a great way to express what I love to do.
