It’s no secret that Columbia is “famously hot.” With temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, venturing out of the house can seem unbearable. However, July is National Ice Cream Month and Columbia has some delicious sweet treats to keep you cool all summer!

1. Sweet Cream Company

The best ice cream shops are 100% local! Sweet Cream Company is situated off of Main Street and serves some of our favorite ice cream in the city. Their flavors range from Indonesian Vanilla to Sweet Tea Sorbet.

2. Zesto of West Columbia

Have you seen the giant ice cream cone in West Columbia? Underneath this is a local favorite, Zesto. Zesto is a burger and sandwich joint that’s been around since 1949. They have some of the best sundaes, shakes, and ice cream cones!

3. Pelican’s Snoballs

Pelican’s is a national chain featuring unique snow cone options. Flavors include Bahama Mama, Fireball, Pink Champagne, and Red Velvet Cake. All locations are family-owned and there’s zero fat and cholesterol in one of their regular snow cones, so you can feel good about eating here!

4. Sandy’s Famous Hot Dogs

Source

Another local favorite that is similar to Zesto is Sandy’s who has been around since 1979. They have over 32 ice cream flavors so you’re bound to find something you love! Sandy’s is located on campus and features daily specials every day of the week. We recommend treating yourself to one of their banana splits for just $5.99 during the weekend.

What are you waiting for? Beat the heat with some of the best ice cream around town!
