World Kindness Day is today! Here are 5 ways to spread kindness on World Kindness Day.

  1. Pay for the person behind you in a drive thru:
    • Paying for the person behind you can make someone’s day brighter because you never know what someone has gone through. Maybe they had a terrible day and knowing that someone, out of the kindness of their heart, paid for them could make them feel overwhelmed with love. Who knows, you may start a train of people paying for others in the drive thru and paying forward acts of kindness.
  2. Leave a loved one a note of affirmation:
    • World Kindness Day is the perfect excuse to show the people you love just how much you love them. Write a little note on a sticky note and stick it to their bathroom mirror to show them a little extra love.
  3. Compliment someone:
    • Show kindness to strangers by complimenting them. It doesn’t have to be intricate; it can just be a simple, “I like what you’re wearing today!” or “I love the way you did your hair today!”
  4. Reach out to people that you haven’t spoken to in a while:
    • Reaching out to people that you haven’t spoken to in a while is a perfect way to show people that you care. Take some time out of your day and check in on people. Ask how they’re doing or what’s going on in their life. Ask how you can support them. Knowing that you care enough to reach out and ask about them may make people feel that warmth that kindness brings.
  5. Volunteer your time:
    • Whether that means going to a soup kitchen or cooking a meal for a neighbor who has been through hard times, take some time to do something for someone else and make their lives easier. You never know the burden that people face on a daily basis, so taking the time to take off some of that burden might make people feel lighter and help them to focus on other things that they have going on.

Sometimes a little act of kindness can go a long way. It doesn’t need to take a long period of time or loads of money to make someone else know that there are people out there who care about them. World Kindness Day is a perfect time to do it, but I encourage that you spread kindness more frequently than this one day of the year.
