Meet Alex Grace, a sophomore here at USC. Alex is a public relations major who also participates in the ROTC program at the university. It’s amazing to think how one girl can do so much.
Her Campus South Carolina: What does a typical day look like for you?
Alex Grace: I wake up at 5 a.m. every morning and go to ROTC. I work out from 5:50 to 7:10 every morning. I then go to my 8:05 that I also have every morning. I get out of class around 10:30 and then I will work out again. Some cardio or weights depending on what I did in the morning. I run around 6 miles a day. I then go home and do some homework. I then either go to work or class again depending on the day. I work at Groucho’s as a server.
HCSC: What do your free days look like?
AG: On my free days I like to run and go to yoga. I’m a bit psychotic about my running. I love to run marathons. I also enjoy spending time will all my friends because I’m always so busy during the week.
HCSC: What are your plans for the summer?
AG: During the summer I am taking one summer class to catch up on my school work since I am required to take 18 credits each semester. July first to the thirteenth I am going to air assault in Fort Benning, Georgia. Air assault is a combat arms summer training for the most competitive highly qualified cadets. I will be the only female in the brigade of 25 different universities going. I am super excited about this.
HCSC: Lastly, what are your plans for after you graduate?
AG: I actually just contracted and was sworn in to be an officer in the United States Army a few days ago. I want to go into a combat arms job, hopefully, armor.
I think that we should all aim to be a little bit more like Alex Grace. Hard work really does pay off. Alex’s dream to be an officer in the United States Army is finally coming true after years of hard work. There is nothing we can’t achieve if we really set our minds to it!Â
