There’s nothing worse than being out of the loop, especially when it comes to something HUGE like the men’s National Championship basketball game. Lucky for you, I grew up in a household full of Villanova alums, so Villanova basketball has a special place in my heart. So, I actually sat there and watched the whole thing and surprisingly didn’t get distracted by (that many) pug Vines or funny gifs. In fact, quite the opposite; this game was a real nail biter!
The final eleven or so seconds made this game one for the books. Here’s why:
With only seconds left in the game, UNC guard Marcus Paige tied up the game with a three-point shot. As the clock continued to tick, Villanova point guard, Ryan Arcidiacono, passed the ball to forward Kris Jenkins. With only four seconds left on the clock, Jenkins won the game with a three–point shot at the buzzer. What a well-deserved win for the cats!
As the tokened “underdogs” of the tournament, Villanova wasn’t expected to win. In fact, after shooting the game-winning basket, Villanova forward Kris Jenkins ran to his mom and shouted, “They said we couldn’t! They said we couldn’t! They said we couldn’t!”
Now I’m sure Villanova fans are, as they say, “partying like its 1985.” Especially since their classes are optional today!
