For those of us college students going to school in the south, finding the right jackets can be difficult. One day it’s 85 degrees and humid and the next it’s 70 degrees and cloudy. Getting dressed in the morning can feel like a fashion nightmare. So this current trend can help save all our fall weather wardobe problems: the track jacket. The sport inspired Y2K fashion is staying around this fall.

Following the summer trend inspired by the Bella Hadid soccer jerseys, the sporty look is continuing into the fall. One chic example is the classic Adidas track jacket.

The Adidas track jacket is great because of its athleisure appeal and its streetwear fashion possibilities. It truly is a versatile piece to mix and match with your fall wardrobe for nearly every daily activity. It’s great to wear on your hot girl walks, heading to class, or going on a coffee run.

This jacket is especially known for its breathability, which comes in clutch when you’re dressing for unpredictable fall weather. It’s cold in the morning, and hot in the afternoon; the fabrics of the jacket help accommodate with the temperamental weather.

Sustainability

One of the best parts about clothing trends resurfacing is the eco-friendliness. Many vintage clothing shops, as well as online thrifting and resell websites, make it easy and convenient to remain eco-conscious while staying trendy this fall.

The Adidas track jacket was created in the late 1960s and mainly used as athletic warm up clothing. However, as early as the 1970s the track suit started to popularize athleisure wear. Adidas partnered with soccer player Franz Beckenbauer, after which its popularity amongst both consumers and athletes spiked. So, the track jacket is essentially a fall soccer jersey, still reminiscent of that European summer fashion vibe inspired mainly by model Bella Hadid.

Due to the timelessness of these track jacket pieces, it’s an investment worth making as it’s likely that you’ll be able to resell them after you’re done wearing them since they’ve remained popular for decades.

Y2K?

Well, Adidas track suits were created in the 60s, so they didn’t originate in the early 2000s at all. In fact, they were already a popular style in American markets starting in the 1980s. Regardless of this, they do show some similar traits to that of Y2K fashion: they come in a variety of bright colors and patterns, they focus on the Adidas signature “three stripes,” and they play into the fun/kid inspired fashion but with an added twist of sporty.
