With the scorching temperatures and raging humidity of Columbia, we need all the help we can get. I’ve compiled a list of beauty hacks from experience of many melted face and poofy hair incidents. Each tip includes a high end product and a good drugstore substitute for those not wanting to break the bank. Happy summer!
Setting Powder
Setting powder has the ability to lock any and every look you have while seamlessly blending your look together. You have two options when it comes to setting powder: color or translucent. I recommend a translucent one because you can use it all the time instead of being tied down to one color.
How To: Get a big fluffy brush, tap some of the product into the lid and just buff it on.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
All Day Stay Lipstick

Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour Wear Lipstick
Setting Spray
If you’re a makeup freak like me, setting powder isn’t enough. Which is where setting spray comes in. While setting powder does set your makeup, the spray will go all over and really lock everything into your skin, especially if your using powder based products.
How To: Close your eyes and literally spray it all over your face.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Spray
NYX Finish Makeup Setting Spray
Powder Foundation
The one thing I love about powder foundation is how it feels on your skin. It doesn’t feel thick or cakey and you can use as much coverage as you need. It’s especially good for summer because it’s less likely to melt off your face when it gets hot and it allows your skin to breathe.

Leave in Conditioner
There’s nothing I hate more than being at the beach or coming out of the pool and having dry and brittle hair. Luckily, this is an easy fix with leave in conditioner.
How To: Just slap some on after getting out of the pool or ocean and your hair will feel 10x better afterwards. It’s also the perfect way to tame your natural hair into all of its silky smooth glory.

Coconut Oil
This is more of a life hack really.
How To: Put some coconut oil onto any part of your body that feels dry, skin or hair. It will do wonders and it smells amazing.
Products:
Old Spice Sweat Defense Deodorant
When I wear this specific deodorant, I do not sweat. 10/10 would recommend. Just make sure you stick to a relatively neutral scent to avoid smelling like a man. I would recommend Fiji.

Razor Burn Hack
It wouldn’t be summer if you didn’t feel the pressure to shave all the hair off your body. Not much is worse though than putting in all of that effort just to have razor burn ruin all of your effort.
How To: Instead of shaving cream, use conditioner. It doesn’t have to be a specific conditioner, any conditioner works. Buy a pack of disposable razors and use each one only one or twice. It will ensure that the razors your using are sharp and not dull and overused.
Products: You can really use anything for this. Any conditioner, any disposable razors.
Frizz Defying Styling Spray
I’ve tried everything to make my hair “weather proof”. I’ve tried so hard to combat the elements and prevent my hair from flopping. Luckily, I have a secret weapon.
How To: spray everywhere.

H I G H L I G H T E R
I saved the best for last. Highlighter has quickly become my favorite makeup product. If you don’t agree with me, dust some on your cheekbones and then turn your head. Life changing.
How To: Take a big fluffy brush and dust some over your cheek bones, and even less on the bridge of your nose. I recommend putting only a little on at time because you can always add more if you want one.
