Sophomore public relations major and Laurel, MS native, Corbin McDavitt has captured the attention of the Southern Miss audience through his witty full-of-life personality, comically entertaining opinion articles in the university newspaper, and his undeniable presence in the Hattiesburg scene. The man behind the hilarious articles, tweets, and status updates is revealed during an interview with Her Campus Southern Miss.
Â
HCSM: What are your involvements here at Southern Miss?
Â
Corbin: Â I am a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and I am a staff writer for the Student Printz.
Â
HCSM: Â What do you hope to do as a career in the future?
Â
Corbin: Â In the future I hope to be a concert/venue promoter. Thatâs just a professional way of saying I want to plan parties.
Â
HCSM: Â What other dreams or aspirations do you have?
Â
Corbin: Â I think I would love to have my own Comedy Central stand up special. I know before I die I want to write a manifesto and a memoir.
Â
HCSM: What’s your favorite food? Favorite drink?
Â
Corbin: Â Tough one. I love supporting local businesses so anything from Mugshots, Keg & Barrel, Old Athenâs is awesome. I recently fell in love with Southbound Bagel shop. I recommend scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon on a cinnamon raisin bagel with a black coffee. And favorite drink is a Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan on the porch of the Keg & Barrel.
Â
HCSM: Â What’s your favorite quote?
Â
Corbin: Â âItâs never too late to be who you might have been.ââ George Elliot
Â
HCSM: Â What philosophy or motto would you say best describes your personality?
Â
Corbin:Â Oh this is easy, Kanye West has a lyric in the song, âGorgeousâ it says, âI need more drinks and less lights and that American Apparel girl in just tights.â I think thatâs the philosophy of cool right there.
Â
HCSM: Â What famous person (or not famous person) do you look up to and why?
Â
Corbin: Â I think famous person is Kanye West. He catches a lot of hate, but I love his honesty, wit, and swagger. But above all my mother is my role model. She is an organ donor, a marathon runner, a businesswoman. Iâm still trying to figure out what happened to me!â
