This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Andrews chapter.
In honour of today’s Kate Kennedy Procession, we want to get to know a little bit more about the woman behind the name.Â
Lady Katherine Kennedy was the neice of James Kennedy, Bishop of St Andrews in the 15th century. He was the one who founded the College of St Salvator.Â
Not much is known about Lady Katherine except that she was a friend to the university and the students. For this reason the club who holds itself responsible for continuing university traditions has taken her name as thier own.
As a treat, I found this video of the 1936 Kate Kennedy Procession. Not Much has changed! Watch it here.
