For Campus Celebrity, I tried to find a postgrad who has done (or is doing) something pretty outstanding in their extra time. I did not have to look far as I decided on Katie Hall, who happens to live in the same halls as me! Therefore asking her a few questions about herself and about her not-for-profit poetry organisation, [insert text here] was not too hard! (That’s the name of the organisation, not a typo, I promise.)
Katie is currently studying for a one year MLitt in Creative Writing (Poetry)
Her favourite places in St Andrews: Katie spends a lot of time writing in cafes and eating cake, so Bibi’s and Northpoint would have to rank pretty highly.
Societies: Katie sings with St Salvator’s Chapel Choir, and also likes to pop along to Inklight events.Â

Home: the tiny village of Keld in Cumbria.Â
[insert text here] is a not-for-profit poetry organisation which she founded in 2012, with a two-fold aim: to provide a platform for emerging poets to get their work out into the open; and to provide access to poetry for people who would not necessarily normally read / hear it. In summer 2013, they’re running a poets-in-residence programme at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, and mounting a poetry exhibition in the beautiful historic grounds of Lowther Castle in Cumbria. Open submissions for their exhibition are monthly until June, at: guerrillapoem.wordpress.com
