At dawn on Wednesday, I witnessed the rare sight of hundreds of students crowding East Sands and running into the North Sea in various stages of undress. This was the annual May Dip tradition, which, legend has it, is the only way to be cleansed of any academic sins you may have committed over the year or years.

The beach is full of students that have braved the early morning and cold to participate in this tradition. Even though I am in my third year, it was my first time to do the May Dip. I was scared and skeptical, but I had so much fun and will be doing it again.

Best Part: Watching the sun rise over the North Sea

Worst Part: The sand was like ice and my feet went numb

Funniest Part: Seeing all the people who for one reason or another dip naked
