The College of St. Leonard threw a wee cocktail party for PostGrads and it was just the start we needed for Semester 2. Admittedly some students were a bit hesitant to attend the event as previous events catered for PostGrads left more to be desired, but as the invite promised cocktails and nibbles (one can never say no to free drinks and food) most of us said we would give it a shot.
I feel confident enough to speak on behalf of most people there, that we were right to give the event a shot. With a group of friends, I entered College Hall in St. Salvador’s Quad all dressed to the nines. Dress code was cocktail attire and we were more than happy to oblige and get out of our jeans and wellies for a change! We entered Lower College Hall and our faces were plastered with grins. Not only did we see a lot of friends of ours but we spotted a long table with champagne flutes and made a beeline straight for it. Nothing like some bubbles to start off a good evening! We later found out that we could go for seconds (and thirds and fourths).
Apart from champagne flutes, there was a table filled with canapés that tasted (and looked) delicious! After a while, one of the organisers spoke to us about the College and introduced the cocktail of the evening that was created especially for the event. After this, there was a small demonstration showing us how to prepare the drink. Needless to say, many of us went for countless refills of the cocktail- who are we to deny ourselves a drink dedicated to us?
The night ended with us relocating to the Lizard- we were rather surprised with ourselves for making that decision, but honestly in the state that most of us were in, it seemed like the only logical plan! Needless to say the next day was not very productive!
All-in-all a great night for PostGrads- one that we are looking forward to repeating in the near future!
