Life as a university student is usually pretty busy, which makes it difficult to find the time to travel. Now we’re into week five deadlines are looming and life outside the library seems a dim and distant memory. All this means that jetting off to some far-flung location, whilst seeming even more appealing, is probably not going to happen. But life should not be all about essays and never ending reading lists, and although I love St Andrews, everyone needs to escape our three streets every now and again. The solution? A city break! With Ryanair offering cheap flights to many European cities, popping over to Paris or Amsterdam for the weekend is a must-do. Leave on a Friday after lectures and return Sunday evening (or Monday if you’re slightly less dedicated to Monday morning classes). Perfect! Head over to Munich to check out Oktoberfest, Paris for a bit of romance, or even a German Christmas market if you’re already in the festive spirit. Hey, you need to celebrate handing in that essay, right?
