This Week We Love: Duck Dynasty

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Andrews chapter.

When I first heard about Duck Dynasty, I thought it sounded like a horrible idea. Who wants to watch a bunch of rednecks in Louisiana go hunting all the time? Well, surprisingly, a lot of people. The show is a hit in America, and it has recently launched on ITV.

(L to R: Phill, Jase, Uncle Si, and Willie Robertson)

I finally gave the show another chance this summer, when my mother – an avid hater of reality TV – told me it was her favourite. Needless to say I was hooked. Bearded men with hot wives, wholesome family values and stupid ideas that usually don’t work out make for great entertainment. It also serves as a dose of home for me (I’m from Mississippi, next door neighbours with Louisiana).

I urge you all to go to ITV right now and take a 20 minute study break with one of the episodes. You’ll love it, and be so confused! Any questions about what they’re saying or what’s going on, feel free to get in touch. Luckily for you, they do include subtitles when the Southern accent gets too thick to understand.

Watch here.
