To remove the âdirtyâ stigma from sex, sex positivity is important. What better way to practice sex positivity than to jam out to some awesome tunes?
Â
1.âMiracle Groâ – The Buttress
This badass female rapperâs two minute song is an unapologetic ode to her sex life. The lines in the song that really illustrate her feelings toward sex include, âYeah itâs true, Iâm a slut, donât give a fuck,â and âcuz dudes ainât shit but balls and dicks.â The Buttress is not afraid to get down and dirty, and sheâs certainly not afraid to tell the world about it.

Â
2. âBlowâ – BeyoncĂ©
BeyoncĂ© has never shied away from speaking about sex or mentioning it in her songs. Her self-titled album is a great example of this. âBlow,â on the album, is uncommon in that it talks about receiving oral sex; a woman receiving oral sex is somewhat taboo in music, and Queen Bey breaks that boundary with this song.
Â
3. âFucked My Way Up To the Topâ – Lana del Rey
In this song, Lana exudes confidence about herself and her sexuality. She makes it known that âThis is my showâ and I donât think anyone would disagree.
Â
Â
4. âGet On Your Kneesâ – Nicki Minaj ft. Ariana Grande
Nicki Minaj has always spoken up against sexism in the music industry, as she has made enormous success in a genre that is male-dominated. Nicki uses her status as a platform to support other women in the industry. Especially since she is known for being âraunchyâ she made a point of saying, âWomen should be allowed to be as hardcore and sexual as they want because men do it all the time.â In this song, Nicki and Ariana Grande are sexually dominant, hence the authoritative song title, âGet On Your Knees.â
Â
5. âDo What U Wantâ – Lady Gaga
Â
6. âI Do Not Hook Upâ – Kelly Clarkson
7. âS&Mâ – Rihanna
8. âSex Yeahâ – Marina and the Diamonds
This song is more about the use of sex in the media more than anything else. âIf sex in our society (didnât tell a girl who she would be)/âCause all my life Iâve tried to fight what history has given me.â Marina and the Diamondâs album âElectra Heartâ is social commentary disguised as sugary pop music and itâs amazing.
Â
9. “Letâs Talk About Sex” – Salt-n-Pepa
Flashback! This is definitely a classic but it also has a strong message. The song recognizes that society doesnât want them to talk about sex since, âPeople might misunderstand what weâre tryingâ to say, you know?â But, of course, they do anyway. âDonât decoy, devoid, or make void the topic / Cuz that ainât gonna stop it / Now we talk about sex on the radio and video shows / Many will know anything goes / Letâs tell it is, and how it could be / How it was, and of course, how it should beâ Basically, this should be played and analyzed in sex education classes.
Â
10. “Birth In Reverse” – St. Vincent
Â
11. âDamn I Wish I Was Your Loverâ – Sophie B. Hawkins
This song is about longing and sexual desire. Sophie B. Hawkins sings, âIf I was your girl, believe me / Iâd turn on the Rolling Stones / We could groove along and feel much better.â
