High school doesn’t prepare you for the trials and tribulations you will experience in college. Now I can’t believe my college journey is ending, and these have been the fastest five years of my life. It feels like just yesterday I was registering for orientation and posing for my Stormcard ID photo. I went from navigating my class schedule to being sent home midway through my freshman year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Not only had COVID-19 impacted my freshman year and academics, but it also took the lives of many of my loved ones.
However, these setbacks only furthered my motivation to achieve success. My ability to overcome has been a testament to my overall strength to dismantle any obstacle standing in the way of my dreams. My family has been my biggest supporter throughout my time in New York. Even though the transition from Philadelphia wasn’t easy initially, attending college in NYC was the greatest decision I made.
My graduation is less than three weeks away and it still feels surreal. As the days continue flying by, the reality that my college journey is ending has now started setting in. St. John’s has helped me evolve into the woman I am today. I have gained so much knowledge, confidence, compassion and experience that will help me transition into becoming a legal professional. The opportunities I’ve pursued throughout my academic career have been life-changing. College has expanded my network, helped me develop genuine connections and strengthened my academic portfolio.
I want to express immense gratitude to my family for their continued support in my academic journey, I wouldn’t be where I am today without them by my side. Even though this moment is bittersweet, it’s my time to say farewell to a university that’s put me on a path to success!
