Spooky season is finally here, and Halloween is just a few days away! While some may plan to stay inside and binge Halloween movies, others will put together their costumes to trick or treat or gather with friends to celebrate. 

Here are a handful of costumes inspired by pop culture from the past to present. 

AS SEEN ON TV

The Joker from The Batman is a male supervillain with a devious sense of humor who’s most- known for committing crimes for his own entertainment. The costume involves hair dye (or a wig), fake tattoos, cosmetics, a purple suit along with a white button-down shirt and a green vest. 

Jennifer Check from Jennifer’s Body is another villainous character who is known for seducing and feasting on the guys in her school. This costume consists of low-rise jeans, a heart print sweater, and large heart earrings. 

Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill is a seventeen-year-old schoolgirl who is also an assassin. Her costume consists of a long blazer, red bow,  straight wig with bangs, white button down, plaid skirt, white stockings and sneakers. 

Chanel Oberlin from Scream Queens is the rich protagonist villain, victim and former president of a sorority. She is similar to Sidney Prescott from the film, Scream, however, her personality is more like Regina George from Mean Girls. Chanel has many different outfits on the show, but the most famous look can be found at Walmart. 

FOR ANIME LOVERS

Tomie from Junji is the villainess known for her selfishness and manipulative ways. All you need is a wig with bangs, red dress or a schoolgirl costume. Her makeup tutorial can be found here. 

Yumeko Jambabi from Kakegurui is a second-year transfer student at a private school, and she’s most known for her compulsive gambling. Her costume can be bought on Amazon.

Misa Amane from Death Note is the lover of the main protagonist, Light Yagami. She is known for having Shinigami eyes, which means she can see the lifespan of every living person. Her costume can also be purchased on Amazon, along with the wig. 

Queen Serenity from Sailor Moon is the queen of the Moon Kingdom in the manga. Her costume is angel-like, with an all-white dress with gold accents and wings. 

FOR DUOS AND TRIOS

Daphne & Velma from Scooby-Doo are two of the four mystery-solving teenagers. Velma’s costume consists of a short red skirt, orange top, and glasses. Daphne’s costume is mainly purple, but has a hint of green. Her costume can be bought here. 

Beetlejuice & Lydia from Beetlejuice are the two main characters in Tim Burton’s 1988  comedy film. Lydia’s costume can be purchased here, and Beetlejuice’s costume can be bought on Yandy.

Monster High Squad from Monster High is a group of characters whose style is inspired by mythical creatures, sci-fi, folklore and pop culture. They come from around the world to a school that was made just for them. Their makeup and costumes can be found on TikTok, Youtube, and Spirit Halloween. 

Hex Girls is a goth rock band included in a few of the episodes of Scooby-Doo. They are three women that sing and play the guitar and keyboard: Thorn, Luna, and Dusk. Their makeup and costumes can be found on Youtube and numerous online shops.
