Each year, I compile a playlist of my favorite songs that remind me of each season. Since spring is now upon us, here is a list of 10 songs I recommend listening to as the flowers bloom while.

1. “Ground” by Wallows: This song falls under the pop genre, and it has a very nostalgic beat that reminds me of spring. I get this same reminiscent feeling with the rest of the songs on the Spring EP.

2. “Outer Space/Carry On” by 5 Seconds of Summer: This song consists of two parts, with the first section focusing on someone who wants to be reunited with a person, even though their relationship has been broken. The second part is about moving on and living your life after grieving. It encompasses both the sad bits of spring and how it’s recognized as a season of moving on. As a bonus, it is very fun to yell in the car.

3. “Wildflower” by 5 Seconds of Summer: This pop and trippy tune is a very fun song about a relationship. It uses floral and natural motifs to present sex in a loving relationship. These motifs remind me of spring.

4. “First Love/Late Spring” by Mitski: This song has been recommended not only because of its name but because it encapsulates the sad parts of spring. This song used spring imagery to express how obsessed Mitski is with the person she sings about, and how she’d do anything for them.

5. “Pink + White” by Frank Ocean: This song incorporates the more romantic elements of spring. He and his lover made it through the hardest part of their relationship, they helped him become a better person. Frank Ocean uses spring elements like birds and sunsets to express this new beginning.

6. “Bleach” by 5 Seconds of Summer: Here is another song that is dedicated to new beginnings! It is about changing everything about yourself and your life by attempting to let go of a past relationship. In the song, 5SOS is saying that sometimes these changes don’t work and changes can be painful.

7. “Sunflower Vol. 6” by Harry Styles: This song has a very similar pop but trippy element to it like “Wildflower”. However, this song is about a romantic relationship and the relationship is compared to flowers. The song suggests that this relationship began as a hookup possibly, but it grew to become more.

8. “Heaven is You” by Joshua Bassett: It is a very romantic song comparing his lover to Heaven. He grew up wondering what Heaven was and realized it was with his lover. It has a soft melody, which mimics the image associated with spring.

9. “Telescope” by Cage the Elephant: Like “Ground”, this song exhibits nostalgia and melancholy. It captures the regret and needs for a change you may be searching for in the season of spring.

10. “Comedown” by Luke Hemmings: The main message behind this song is taking yourself when coming out of a bad cycle, and ensuring that you change for the better. It acts as a reminder that the journey to achieving a new beginning can be associated with the spring.

This playlist will allow you to listen to a song that can remind you of every element of spring. I hope this will help you embrace all parts of the season!
