Before the gyms shut down in March, my go-to way to workout was going to the gym. Since I was a child, working out has been part of my life, from swimming to track and tennis. When the gyms closed down, all I was left with was a small space in my living room and a yoga mat. While I stayed envious of my friends that had home gyms or weights to lift, I knew that I would rather figure out a new way to stay active than spend the money on expensive equipment. I want to share some of the workouts and workout apps that have helped me all year long with the Her Campus community.Â

YouTube:
Most Viral Trend: Chloe Ting
As anyone who has TikTok will have seen, I can’t help but mention Chloe Ting. I love Chloe Ting’s videos because they are short and effective. She is one of the only fitness YouTube instructors that have completely free workout programs. The 2 Weeks Shred Challenge was incredibly effective and a great way to stay motivated.

Most Effective Workout: Sydney Cummings
My personal favorite YouTube fitness instructor is Sydney Cummings. Because of my athletic background, I love the composition of the videos. Videos range in length, perfect for when you’re in a time crunch or want to challenge yourself a little extra that day. Plus, there are new videos every single day, which allows you to never repeat a workout. My favorite thing is the challenges that Sydney produces. Challenges are a bit longer, making it a bit tough to find motivation, but you always know she is there for you.

Apps:
Best of 2020: DownDog HIIT
This year, DownDog made their workout app free for university students, which I happily took advantage of. Workouts are high-intensity interval training, which is useful for staying in shape and building cardiovascular fitness. Each workout is created new each time, and you can choose what music you listen to during it. Absolutely the best and easiest workout app.

Most Recent Find: Nike Training Center
Since October, the Nike Training Center has been my go-to workout app. The workouts pair with an Apple Watch, which helps focus on your workout instead of a video. The app also has programs led by professional trainers to go at your own pace, which I absolutely love.
