Things to do to get off Campus this Time of Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. Law U chapter.

Although I love St. Lawrence, sometimes this small school can seem way too small. Whether it be for a short drive or weekend adventure, getting off campus can be a great way to refresh and boost your mood. Below are some fun ways to get off campus, even during this cold time of year.

Check out Parker Bros Coffee

Located in the nearby Potsdam, this coffee shop is similar to one you would find in SoHo, NYC. The atmosphere here is the perfect one to get some work done and the coffee drinks are delicious. This is a great way to mix-up where you are studying. Also, on a snowy day sitting in Parker Bros feels like you are in a snowglobe.

Go See a Movie

Although we all watch movies often in our dorm rooms, there is something so different from watching it on your computer than in a theater. Going to the American Theater for a movie is a good way to excite your night and a fun thing to do with friends. Right now they have the movie A Dog’s Way Home, which seems adorable and heartwarming.

Skiing & Snowboarding Anywhere!

Skiing and snowboarding are awesome ways to get outdoors with friends! There are countless places to ski and snowboard around here; from a day trip to Whiteface in Lake Placid, night skiing at Titus Mountain, to venturing to Vermont and its’ many ski mountains. Skiing and snowboarding are great ways to enjoy the winter weather and are extremely rewarding.

Shop in Canton

Canton, surprisingly, has some great places to shop! One I recommend is Luna. This store has great clothing, accessories, and shops for all occasions. With reasonably priced and good quality items, this store is one you must check out. In addition to Luna, Nature’s Storehouse is a great health food store that provides organic remedies and fresh foods for all tastes.

I hope these are some fun and helpful ways to get off campus this time of year!
