For my final article of the 2011-2012 school year I want to switch things up a bit. Instead of sharing a recipe I want to share a list of all the food blogs I visit regularly. These food blogs serve as the inspiration for many of the recipes I prepare for “Cooking on Campus” as well of as at home.
As I think ahead to my senior year (yikes!) I think about all the things that are going to change. September will bring my last first day of college, my last volleyball season, and my last year to take advantage of the fabulous food service we have here at St. Olaf. Pretty soon a lot of us are going to have to start cooking for ourselves, and for some this responsibility will come next year as many seniors choose to life off campus. For some the responsibility of cooking their own food may be too much, and as a result, these people will resort to fast food or surviving off frozen dinners. Others still will welcome the opportunity to cook their own food and are looking forward to exploring the world of cooking.
Whatever your path, food will be involved in your life in some way. As someone who is looking forward to the challenge of cooking for myself after college I find that food blogs help inspire me to find the joy in cooking, and are an endless resource for recipes.
I encourage everyone to find a few food blogs that they enjoy and read them on a regular basis. For those dreading cooking for themselves these food blogs might help change your attitude towards cooking and will give you ideas when you are stuck. For those who enjoy cooking, food blogs will also help give you ideas and will keep you excited about trying new recipes.
